Halal Control and Certification

The Marhaba products are produced by working closely with independent Halal auditors for regular quality and factory checks. Our local Halal auditors comply with the Malaysian Halal standards – currently, the only government to have set out guidelines to protect the production of Halal food products and services.

At Marhaba we only use producers who ensure that the best quality products are delivered. Our Halal certifiers follow the HACCP and the BRC guidelines, and our producers must have at least one of these two certifications. Thus food hygiene and traceability are guaranteed.

How Our Control Works:

Raw materials

  • All ingredients are Halal and must be certified by the Halal audit companies

Incoming goods

  • Must be delivered separated
  • Must be visually recognised as a Halal product
  • Buying, processing and storage of pig flesh, meat, bone, skin, hide or hair are not allowed in the whole company
  • The origin of any E-numbers used in our products must be clarified and approved on paper by Halal auditors

Production process

  • The use of alcohol is not allowed as an ingredient in any product
  • Halal products must be produced with well cleaned and decontaminated machinery and tools (during this process alcohol may be used for cleaning machinery)

Hygiene

  • The cleaning instructions and instruments must be according to Halal standards
  • Wearing gloves, headwear and clean clothing is imperative. Halal employees must be recognized by wearing coloured gloves.

Packaging

  • The packaging material must be approved by the Halal auditors

Storage and transport

  • The Halal products must be visually recognizable
  • The Halal products may not be stored with products which contain pig meat
